About the musicians

Megan Fournier Mewis is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan Music department, with a bachelor of Music in Voice Performance. While at the U of S, she was a member of the Greystone Singers, the U of S Musical Theatre Ensemble, the Saskatoon Opera Association and was a section leader for the sopranos and altos of the University Chorus. After graduating, Megan moved to Cardiff, Wales, UK for three years where she continued her opera training, sang with the BBC Welsh National Choir and performed in various venues gaining her recognition on BBC Radio One and BBC Channel One. In between performances and training, Megan backpacked through Western Europe with a voice trio, busking Canadian folk songs on Europe's city streets.

Upon returning to Prince Albert, she transferred her musical focus from solo work to teaching. She is currently the artistic director of the Prince Albert Children's Choir, where she works with amazing singers aged 6-18 on choral and solo vocal techniques.

It has been a blessing to be asked to perform at St Alban’s. What with the choir, her full time job with Conexus Credit Union, and time with her amazing husband and two beautiful, fun-loving kids, her own singing has been on the back burner. It has been an immense joy to prepare this concert.

Lawrent Fournier is a local guitar teacher, teaching classical, folk, rock, country, flamenco, ragtime, and jazz guitar for over 40 years. He studied at the U of S with Alexandre Lagoya, Wilson and McAllister, the late Gordie Brandt, and has attended a host of master classes and workshops with such guitarists as Carlos Montoya, Michale Strutt, Norbert Kraft and the Kitzner Jazz Clinic. His unique and rhythmic strumming has been a welcome addition to multiple music groups in P.A. throughout the years, most recently The Menfolk, St. Mark's Music Ministry, and the Prince Albert Children's Choir.

Brock Skomorowski is from Prince Albert and has been hiding behind a piano for most of his time here. He started playing for his elementary school celebrations at 12 years of age. From there he branched into accompanying school and community choirs, music ministry at church, high school and community musicals, and working at ballet studios. Brock is currently the music teacher and vice-principal of Holy Cross School. Brock and his wife Kayleigh can most commonly be heard serving as music ministers at Sacred Heart Cathedral. He thanks Megan for asking him to accompany her, and St. Alban’s for putting on this fantastic event.
